Elbow Park: A Neighbourhood I’ve Loved Since Childhood
If Altadore is the neighbourhood that shaped my adult life, Elbow Park is pure nostalgia.
This part of southwest Calgary has it all -tree-lined streets, wide lots, and a mix of classic character homes and sleek new builds. There’s a quiet confidence here, a place that doesn’t need to shout to stand out.
The Elbow River and its pathways are a huge part of life in the area. Morning runs, evening bike rides, or a stroll along the river -it’s the kind of backdrop that just makes your day feel calmer without even trying.
The Glencoe Club is another neighbourhood staple. I spent a lot of my youth there playing badminton, and now it’s where people hit the gym or cool off in the pool on a hot summer day. It’s one of those spots that quietly anchors the community.
Then there’s Christ Church Hill, where I grew up sledding in the winter. Those afternoons - packed with kids, sleds, and laughter—are still some of my favourite memories. Cold cheeks, snow in your boots, and that slow walk back up the hill -it’s classic Calgary.
Elbow Park feels effortless. Families, professionals, and anyone who loves a mix of character and modern homes all find their place here. Mature trees, beautiful architecture, and a real sense of life happening naturally make it one of those neighbourhoods that sticks with you.
