Altadore & Marda Loop: Where Community and Lifestyle Meet

I’m starting a blog series about the city I love. The neighbourhoods that shape it. The pockets that feel like home.

And there is no better place to begin than Altadore and Marda Loop, a community I have been lucky enough to call home for the past 15 years.

Fifteen years of morning walks. Last minute dinner plans. Watching the streets evolve while the feeling of the neighbourhood stays the same.

There is something about this corner of southwest Calgary that just feels right.

Life here revolves around simple rituals. Coffee from Bella's Cafe where you almost always see someone you know. Sandwiches from Bonjour Sandwich Shop on busy afternoons. Date nights at DOPO or Penny Crown when you want something special without leaving the neighbourhood.

It is walkable. It is vibrant. It feels connected.

Wellness is part of daily life here too. Whether it is a workout at one of the many fitness studios nearby or an appointment at Alta Physio to stay feeling your best, everything you need is within a few blocks.

And then there is River Park.

If you know, you know.

The skyline views. The off leash dogs. The quiet winter mornings and golden summer evenings. I have spent countless hours there clearing my head, walking with friends, and reminding myself why I love this city.

Over the years, I’ve watched Altadore grow. Older bungalows replaced with beautiful new builds. More shops opening along 33rd and 34th. Families planting roots. Young professionals buying their first place. People upsizing, downsizing, and choosing to stay because of how it feels to live here.

That is what I want this series to be about.

Not just houses. Not just streets.

But the energy of a neighbourhood. The rhythm of everyday life. The small businesses that make it special. The parks that anchor it. The reasons people fall in love with a community and decide to call it home.

Altadore and Marda Loop will always hold a special place in my heart. It is where so much of my adult life has unfolded. And it is the perfect place to start sharing the Calgary I know and love.

If you have been thinking about making a move into the neighbourhood, or simply want to see what is currently available, I would be happy to put together a personalized property search for you. Whether you are curious about new builds, character homes, or something walkable near the heart of Marda Loop, feel free to reach out. I always love talking about this community.
